Arrived on site to perform diagnostic on a 38-year-old system. Upon arrival system powers on when calling for pool and presents a 20° temperature split. While checking temperature split I noticed recently replaced air filters are already quite dirty. Additionally, I checked the amperage on the compressor; the max rating on the tag for the compressor is 21.2 amps and the compressor is pulling 19.33 amps. Time of day is just after 9:30 AM and the temperature was just below 80°; as the temperatures increase throughout the day, it puts excess strain on the system, which forces it to work harder; the excess heat creates the environment where additional electricity to flow through the system, is likely turning off the compressor due to it overheating; the outdoor fan continues to spin to try to suck air in through the outdoor coil to cool the system off. Once it cools down enough, it turns back on before repeating that cycle. that in conjunction with the dirty air filters creates an interna
could not get refrigerant to keep leaking out so i can replace the Schrader valve. could not install my gauges. sending sean tomorrow from 10-12
System is operating upon arrival. Erik says that the system runs but doesn’t cooler temperature as good as when I left the other day. He says it feels that the system doesn’t catch up with cooling the home. first I checked temperature split and it was around 17°. And then checked the blower motor to see if I could adjust the speeds but it was already on the highest speed. And then checked refrigerant lines and low side was producing condensation. I then was going to connect my gauges to check refrigerant levels, but noticed that as soon as I opened up the service cap, refrigerant would pour out. Schrader valve needs to be replaced because it is causing refrigerant to leak out. Need to come back with Schrader valve and Schrader valve tool to remove and reinstall a new Schrader valve. System was left as is upon departure.
System is not operating properly upon arrival. Came to preform blower cleaning, evaporative coil cleaning, cleared the drain line, clean condenser unit, replace contactor, and add refrigerant (r22). After cleanings and repairs, i start up system to being to add refrigerant. I noticed that air wasn’t coming out the vents. I heard a continuing loud motor noise and realized it was coming from the blower motor. I took amperage and checked capacitor. Capacitor was withing range and amperage was still higher than normal. The blower motor burnt out due to the high amperage and less stress to the motor because it had clean fins. I called Eric about the situation and let him know we have to order a new motor. I had advised Erik that and he approved for a new motor. Andrew helped me order a new motor. I picked up the new motor and came back to install it with a clean blower. Ran and tested system after the new blower motor. Blower motor was operating properly for cool and heat. After the cleanin
ac tune up: System is operating upon arrival. Eric & Nicolette are having issues with their air conditioner not cooling the home. They don’t have any issues with airflow. Thermostat is responsive and cooling for cool. I first checked out the outside unit and I noticed that the low side line set was freezing up. Freezing is usually caused by blocked airflow or lack of refrigerant. I noticed that the two washable filters were very dirty, and one of them was falling apart. Nicolette went to the store to purchase two disposable filters. I opened up the system and noticed that it was freezing up to the compressor. I also noticed a contactor is burnt up by electrical damage, and should be replaced. Eric tells me the dual capacitor was replaced last year by one of his buddies, capacitor has dropped in range. Amperage on compressor is high. Amperage on fan is also high. Condenser unit itself could use a cleaning to provide better airflow to the condenser coils and cool the system off quicker a
