West Sacramento Air Conditioning FAQs
The cost to fix an AC varies widely based on the issue's complexity. Minor repairs like fixing a capacitor or replacing a thermostat may cost $100 to $500. More significant repairs such as fixing a refrigerant leak or replacing a compressor can range from $500 to several thousand dollars. Factors like labor costs, parts, and system type influence expenses. It's advisable to obtain quotes from local HVAC professionals to get accurate estimates for your specific AC issue.
Whether to replace or repair your air conditioning equipment depends on a number of criteria, including overall efficiency, age of the system, and degree of damage. Repairing your system could be cost-effective if it is relatively fresh and the cost of the work is affordable. On the other hand, replacing older equipment that frequently has problems or serious malfunctions can end up being more economical in the long run and offer better efficiency and dependability. Making an educated choice and assessing your unique scenario are facilitated by speaking with an HVAC specialist.
An HVAC system's lifespan varies according to usage, upkeep, and model quality. A well-maintained system has a 15–20-year lifespan on average. Air conditioners typically do not last as long as furnaces. Longevity is influenced by appropriate use, timely repairs, and routine maintenance. Lifespan may also be impacted by switching to more energy-efficient models. Maintaining an eye on your HVAC system's performance, planning routine maintenance, and replacing it after 15 years can all assist in guaranteeing that it runs well for the duration of its life.
If your heat is not working, first check the thermostat settings and replace the batteries if needed. Ensure the circuit breaker for the heating system is not tripped. If the issue persists, inspect the air filter and replace it if dirty. Check for obstructions in vents and registers. If these steps don't resolve the problem, consult a professional HVAC technician. Attempting DIY fixes beyond basic troubleshooting may cause further damage. Prompt professional assistance ensures a thorough diagnosis and safe resolution of heating issues.

came to find a solution for refrigerant line, transition chewed open by critters. Jennifer says mice run up through the refrigerant lines and into the attic. She wants to know if we can have the transitions redone with more heavy duty material. I recommended adding steel wool in the hole to eliminate critters from entering the home. I will also be removing old material and redoing the transition and adding UV sealant for better durability. Jennifer will let us know when she wants to work to be done.

Upon arrival, I’ve set up my ladder next to the vent where the homeowner was noticing a sweet smell. I Turned on the system and waited right underneath the vent. As soon as the blower kicked on I was able to smell the sweet smell but then it went away after 30 seconds. I’ve inspected the ducts from inside and out. I didn’t notice anything off or strange with the ducts and I believe this was happening for a long time but the homeowner just noticed it right now.

Capacitor on blower motor is within spec. Cleaned the flame sensor and spark type igniter as part of evaluation. Thoroughly inspected heat exchanger as Tim was concerned that due to the age of the system it may be cracked. Heat exchanger is a tubular, solid metal heat exchanger, and while there are signs of moderate rusting present at various locations; there’s no signs of current cracking. There are signs that there are spots that may crack in the near future. Inducer motor is pulling almost the maximum amperage rated on the tag and the blower motor is pulling an appropriate amount of amps. Evaporator

Installed new panel. See attached photos. Additionally, Greg mentioned his unit was not working after the inspector was touching the disconnect, and that he went out to see what the problem was, and upon reinserting the disconnect, he heard a sizzle. Removed the disconnect and checked all wiring to ensure it was secure and tight. Upon re-inserting the disconnect I noticed it was not easy to slide in and that it was not making a full connection.
